Erin Denney-Jones
DVM
Dr. Erin Denney-Jones is the owner of
Florida Equine Veterinary Services, Inc. in Clermont,
Florida. She is a graduate of the University of
Missouri-Columbia Veterinary Medical School and completed an
Equine Medicine and Surgical Internship at Mississippi State
University. She achieved status as a FEI (Federation
Equestrian International) veterinarian in 1995.
She has been the veterinarian on call at
many local shows in Orlando, Florida such as the dressage
shows at Clarcona Ocoee Horseman’s Park and the Horse Trials
at Rocking Horse Stables in Altoona, Florida. She acted as
FEI Veterinary Delegate for CDI Dressage Shows in Florida
and the FEI Veterinary Delegate for CCI 1 and 2 star Three
Day Events in Texas, Florida, and Michigan.
Besides her own passion for continuing
education, Dr. Denney-Jones also has a desire to enhance the
owners understanding of equine disease and lameness. This
passion has evolved into a large scale owner education
program in 1998 that still continues today. It is known as
the Florida Equine Veterinary Services Annual Horse Owner
Seminar and Dr. Denney-Jones continues to moderate it. Each
year the event hosts on average 100 horse owners from around
the country. The topic changes each year and is based on the
attendees most requested areas of interest.
Dr.
Denney-Jones takes an active role in organized veterinary
medicine as an active member in the American Association of
Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the Florida Association of
Equine Practitioners (FAEP), the American Veterinary Medical
Association (AVMA), and the Florida Veterinary Medical
Association (FVMA). She participated as a member of the
Sports Medicine Committee for the AAEP and was Chairperson
of the Owner Education Committee for them as well. She was
also on the Charter Board of the FAEP and served as
Treasurer of the Florida Association of Equine Practitioners
in 2006-2008. She has organized and led a dentistry wet lab
for the FAEP.
Her interests and practice areas include
chiropractic care, sport horse medicine, reproduction,
general medicine and surgery, and preventive care including
wellness programs, vaccinations, parasite control, and
dentistry. Besides spending time with her husband and son
she enjoys horseback riding, all water sports, and
traveling.
Kim
Chester BS Equine Science with emphasis on Equine Physical
Therapy
Kim Chester is an
equine therapist on staff at Florida Equine Veterinary
Services. She
received her B.S. in Equine Studies with a concentration in
Equine Therapy from Midway
College
in Midway, KY.
In the Equine Therapy program, she studied the proper uses
and effects of a variety of therapeutic modalities and
manual techniques including therapeutic laser, magnetic
therapy, and acupressure.
While attending
Midway
College, Kim worked with
broodmares and foals at
Old Bradley Place and Shadowlawn
Farm. She performed
in the breeds show at the Kentucky
Horse Park.
For one summer, she worked at
Surgi-Care Center
for Horses in
Brandon, FL.
Kim showed on the IHSA Western Equestrian Team for 4
years placing in the top 7 at IHSA Nationals her freshman
and senior year.
She finished her senior year in the open division-the second
highest riding division in IHSA.
During the therapy program she treated horses in the
Midway
College riding program, at KESMARC, and
the handicapped for riding facility at the
Kentucky Horse
Park.
Since joining FEVS, Kim has filled many volunteer positions
for several years.
Among those include helping as a volunteer at the Florida
Association of Equine Practitioners Symposiums and judging
or scribing at SEDRA Competitive Trail Rides. She travels to
Lexington, KY every year to work with her mentors for
continuing education.
She is currently the Vice President of Education at
Southlake Toastmasters in
Clermont, FL
for the 2010-2011 Toastmaster year.
